Probably, many images that you’ll be dealing with will not require a lot of retouching. Because you have complete freedom in choosing which models you assist, you will likely be shooting women that are already very attractive and a good fit for the particular design of pics you want to simply take. However, there are some basic retouching tasks which you can use to benefit many images: MINOR IMAGE IMPERFECTIONS They’re tiny imperfections visible on an image (in this instance, Im not talking about any imperfections regarding the actual model). And others, these imperfections range from small dust marks, lint on a bit of wardrobe, or perhaps a mark on the floor the result of a heal scuff. An average of, this is actually the first task I actually do when getting into the retouching process. MINOR SKIN IMPERFECTIONS This category refers to small treatment for acne which may be present on the models skin. Much like everything in post-production, youll need to make subjective choices regarding what changes to create. Two types of small treatment for acne are pimples and small scars. Slight imperfections such as these may not be visible to you while youre shooting the pics. However, when later viewing the images, they may become readily apparent. Its a reasonably simple process to obtain eliminate these kind of treatment for acne. The decision you need to make with each individual image is how long you want to simply take the process. If youre trying to make a virtually flawless photograph (a Playboy centerfold, for example) youll probably want to make the models skin appear nearly perfect. On the other hand, if youre shooting images for the Amateur market, youll desire to keep the model looking fairly real. In this case, its a good idea to keep some, or all, minor skin treatment for acne visible STRAY HAIRS Regardless of how well a models hair may look throughout a shoot, there will inevitably be a few stray hairs visible if the resulting images are viewed closely. Retouching stray hairs can be achieved relatively easily. However, be careful not to remove every strand of hair which may be just a little out of place. Should you, youll run the chance of making your models hair seem like a helmet (which is rarely an excellent look). Youll need to use your judgement to find out which stray hairs detract from an image and which do not. WHITENING EYES AND TEETH This can be a simple way to improve the impact of nearly any photograph that includes an individual. Making the whites of the eyes brighter can employ a dramatic effect on the way the photograph is viewed. Believe it or not, even though looking at a photo of a nude woman, the viewers attention will first be drawn to the models eyes. The result of brightening the eyes may be easily accomplished with any post-production software. Additionally, changing the color of the eye itself is an easy task. For example, its quite easy to show brown eyes into blue eyes; or blue eyes into even bluer eyes. Besides the eyes, it’s also a good idea to make tooth of a model appear whiter and brighter. Though I dont find myself taking care of teeth nearly as much as i find myself taking care of eyes, there are definitely situations when brightening a models teeth is precisely what an image needs. However, be mindful not to go past an acceptable limit with this technique – its very easy to make the teeth appear so white which they end up looking very unnatural. Bear in mind, subtle changes can make a positive change.
